"the patients should be treated with respect"

About: Warwick Hospital

Anything else?

i visited warwick hospital on the evening of 02/02/13 with a severe back pain after seeing the triage nurse i then waited i noticed on the tv screen that the waiting time was 3 hours when i asked why it would be 3 hours i was told it was because people were coming in by ambulance when i said i should have to wait 3 hours i was told i was being abusive and security would be called i wasnt being abusive and to be treated like this is very unreasonable i would be the first to suggest staff shouldnt face abusive behaviour but equally patients shouldnt be made to feel like 2nd class citizens

Often patients are required to wait in the reception of A&E due to more serious cases being admitted to the department via ambulances. As expected the department prioritise patients based on clinical need and those transported by ambulance are often in need of immediate attention. Whilst we appreciate that this may be frustrating, we do ask our patients to be mindful of this and respectful to our staff who are there to try and help.

I have spoken to the Manager of the A&E Department who had already received an account of this incident. If you would like to speak to me about this further please contact me at the below address.

Kind regards,

Glen Burley,

Chief Executive
