"Pre natal scan"

About: Raigmore Hospital / Maternity care

(as a parent/guardian),

I am disappointed with what happened today at your hospital today.

My daughter attended for a pre booked pregnancy scan.

When she entered the room with her husband and young son, the nurse was un-impressed to say the least and greeted them with "We don't usually allow children in here", if he makes a noise he will have to leave the room. My daughter was anxious her son may be a little frightened or upset being in such a strange environment, so she reached into her bag and produced a small bag of sweets to calm her son should he become upset, she was then told that food was not allowed.

Fortunately due to my daughter being a very good mother, my grandson was as quiet as a mouse and did not need to be removed from the room.

I am very upset to hear that in this day and age that a nurse should behave in this un-friendly and un-professional manor toward a heavily pregnant woman and a young child.

They had to travel from Fort William to Inverness for the scan as this service is not available in Fort William. My daughter cannot simply leave her child at home alone to suit staff, it seems so to me.

I am appalled at the attitude of some of your staff my daughter came into contact with, may I suggest that a little training is give to your staff on family matters and perhaps a little compassion is shown toward a very concerned young mother.
