"Midwives and Antenatal"

About: St Peter's Hospital (Chertsey)

Anything else?

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for all our your midwifery staff and the doctors on Labour and Joan Booker wards.

Having suffered a very worrying bleed at 31 weeks pregnant I was admitted to St Peters.

Upon ringing triage I spoke with a member of staff who managed to calm me down and reassure me and told me to come in and get checked over. As you can imagine I was in shock and complete panic. The member of staff assessed me upon arrival then took me to the labour ward where I was looked after by two nurses. All of these women reassured me, made me feel very comfortable, and were so kind a pleasant in what was an awful situation for me. They cleaned me up, helped me change and administered my injections with as little pain as possible. They were fabulous.

On the second day I was taken to Joan Booker ward where I was looked after by three midwives. Again all of these lovely ladies kept me informed of what was going on, made me comfortable, reassured me, helped me and cheered me up.

The cleaning staff and meals ladies were also most kind and cheerful and pleasant.

Happily I was sent home on day three baby still happily in my tummy and me feeling so much better.

Had it not been for all of your doctors and staff but in particular the wonderful midwives mentioned in this email, I would have buckled under the stress of the whole situation. The professionalism, kindness and from what I could tell love of their job of these health professionals was overwhelming to me. They were all very busy but had time to properly care for me. I could not have asked for better care and I am most grateful to everyone involved in making my three day stay with you as comfortable as it was.

Please pass on my thanks and admiration to them all and I look forward to delivering my son with them by my side some time in the next few weeks.

With very best regards,

Thank you for your lovely comments about our midwifery team, including our housekeepers who do an excellent job. It is very encouraging to hear that you were so well looked after during your few days with us, which was understandably a very stressful time for you, and we will pass your comments onto all the teams you mention. We hope the rest of your pregnancy and the birth goes well and look forward to caring for you and your son again in the near future.
