"Shocking service from my GP"

Having been struggling with insomnia and exhaustion for the last few weeks, I booked an emergency appointment, desperate to seek help.

I attended an appointment with a doctor at my practice, who completely disregarded my plea for help with sleep, as I have received previously.

I was brushed off with his "I could care less" manner, after being handed a prescription for acid reflux medication (huh?). And what I thought was a repeat script for the medication I have been on for the last four months.

Leaving the omeprazole in the bag, certain it would do not a single thing for my sleeping trouble, and reached for my regular medication instead. Wow, I truly thought at that point he had already done his worst. Oh no. He had given me a third of my usual dose, of a medication that requires weaning in order to come off it.

I am absolutely disgusted with his blasé, lacklustre service. There may always be a need for doctors, but it does not mean we must put up with their arrogant and ignorant egos at the expense of decent practice.
