"Lack of dignity"

Anything else?

I attended the minor injuries department after thinking I had left a feminine hygiene product inside. This can be very dangerous and cause toxic shock syndrome. I know this because I myself am a nhs nurse.

I was seen quickly but left in tears at the way I was treated. To start with I was not asked my permission for a student nurse to be present for my examination. The student nurse was not introduced to me in any way, but I could clearly read her id badge.

I was told to undress and given a blanket for privacy, however the nurse that treated me was laughing about the reason I was there behind the closed door. I heard every word and felt particularly disgusted when she exclaimed to a colleague ' I'm off to see what she's got up there, I might even deliver a baby'. The nurse and her student then examined me. I started to cry as I felt so upset and stupid. I made a point of mentioning that I was a qualified nurse and told them the department I work in. The attitude towards me then changed and I was suddenly treated with respect! Very disappointed.
