"Night Noise"

Why is it so hard to get nursing staff and doctors to understand that sleep is one of the best treatments a patient can get?

I complained some months ago about people wearing hard soled shoes on night duty, but it seems that the message just does not get through to the staff. A friend very recently had exactly the same problem as me, a nurse wearing high heels on night duty.

It seems that a note was made in the "newsletter" for the nurses - how many bother to read it I wonder? It is not about time that footwear was made a part of the uniform code and not a matter of fashion at the whim of the staff?

I would complain less about this if the general standard of care at Gloucester Royal was better but my personal experience over the past few years has indicated that, for most, this is just a job and not a vocation.

I do wonder if it is not a filter down of the attitude of the management. Great things were expected with the new build, is all that hope in vain?
