"Concerns over standard of care on Aldham ward"

About: Colchester General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Aldham ward last August for surgery. Following surgery at approx 1400 hrs I was nauseous and very sweaty, also my theatre gown was blood stained. My husband asked if I could have a wash and a clean gown, the Staff Nursed replied no as i might be sick again. No-one either offered me a wash or clean night attire. I washed and changed myself at 03-15, on feeling able to. The Staff Nurse wrote in my nursing notes that my husband was 'aggressive', which was completely untrue and also irrelevant to my care. From what I saw, the Matron in charge of this area needs to be more shop floor and less meetings, then perhaps my standard of care would be much better.
