"Third world - my worst ever experience"

About: Wexham Park Hospital

Anything else?

The interim ward which I was put in was as I would imagine a prison ward to be. The bed was rock hard, I asked for a pillow and was forgotten about. I had to sleep in my jeans and jumper because no one bothered to see if I needed help. The call buttons were hidden so the patient could not call anyone. I had to yell to get someone to provide me with a bed pan, then I was left sitting on it untill I yelled again 20 minutes later.I was not given any water to drink,no one offered to help me brush my teeth or wash. I was unable to get out of bed and was very frightened. Patients called out in the night and a patient who clearly had dementia was repeatedly told to shut up and be quiet.

We do not need nurses to run the ward ,we need auxillery care assistants, peaple who care for our well being .Let the doctors deal with the medical side. I can not believe that all the money put into improving our hospitals has done nothing at all for patient care and dignity. The nurses are obviously too qualified to look after our daily needs such as washing and dressing , bring back the care assistants to make us feel safe and less frightened. Years ago a hospital ward would be busy and bustling with staff .No body walked pass my bed from 10pm till 6am .I know because I did not sleep.
