"Below the knee amputation"

My husband had a below the knee amputation done, he was sent to a ward where all the staff have never treated an amputee, the had no idea how to dress the leg or what it should look like as it was heeling ( The Nurses openly admitted this) my husband ended up with a bad infection. He was on antibiotics two different types four times a day and went back to theatre countless times to have it cleared out. He had to wait in pain to get his medication and because it was a controlled drug there had to be two nurses to give them out, they were so short staffed he was left in pain for long periods of time. We had to fight for counselling which turned out to be a joke they gave him leaflets on self help ( he was at rock bottom and needed help!). He needed canulars replacing daily because they seemed to tissue all the time I could not believe none of the nursing staff on the ward were able to canulate, he had to wait for hours for a doctor to come and do it (often missing his antibiotics as a result of this) I do blame lack of staff and the fact he was on the wrong type of ward for my husbands bad experience.The nurses always tried there best
