Following the admission of an individual with learning disabilities and complex communication needs the staff worked with his family and support staff to ensure that his needs were met and that his hospital experience was a positive one. The communication between the Doctors, Nursing staff and the family was excellent throughout his stay and the department ensured that a person centred and flexible approach was used to achieve the best outcome for the individual. The organisation and communication upon discharge was faultless and the hospital staff have been proactive with follow up appointments and inter departmental communications to ensure the individual receives the same standard of support during his outpatient appointments.
