"Car parking was a problem"

About: East Surrey Hospital

(as a relative),

On Monday the car parking was diabolocal no spaces to be found anywhere. I was lucky the person who was with me left me in time for visiting but had to park outside the hospital site. Why was it so bad? A hospital this sIze needs more parking and visitors with sick relatives do not need any more anxieties, they have enough already.

Dear Crosspatch,

I'm sorry that you had problems parking on Monday and that this added to your anxieties when visiting the hospital.

The hospital is looking to add more parking spaces and is currently putting together a plan to increase the number of visitor spaces. Unfortunately the need, in recent weeks, to restrict visiting to certain reduced times because of Norovirus has led to a bottle-neck at certain times for which I apologise.

Please be assured that as the Director responsible I take this matter very seriously and if you would like to discuss this further please could you either e-mail at ian.mackenzie@sash.nhs.uk or call me on 01737 231988

Regards

Ian

Dear Crosspatch,

Since I last replied to your comments we have increased the visitor and patient parking at East Surrey Hospital quite significantly and we now very rarely see the type of problems that you experienced two years ago. I said at the time that we took this matter very seriosuly and we will continue to monitor that our patients and visitors are not being caused unnecessary stress by the car parking arrangements.

regards

Ian
