"Not offered a choice of hospital"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

I was not offered a choice of hospital, *told* there was an appointment at New Cross. When I said I would prefer Telford I felt I was being put off as the waiting time was longer (but no official dates/times) to book this up. GP told me I’d be referred but did not mention the TRAQS process!

Thank you for your comments following your referral via TRAQS.

I am sorry that you feel that you were not offered a Choice of hospital. Unfortunately due to capacity issues with the local hospital clinics we are unable to offer appointments locally for a few specialities. When this is the case we do offer patients the first available appointment which may indeed be some distance away. Unfortunately as the local hospital manage their own waiting lists for outpatient appointments we are unable to give any indication of how long patients will be waiting for an appointment.

I am sorry that your GP failed to inform you of TRAQS - we have a leaflet which practices/GPs are supposed to give to all patients who are being referred for further care.

Thank you again for taking the time to provide the TRAQS team with feedback.
