I donated a kidney to my husband a couple of years ago and wanted to share my story here. The renal unit at QA had been fantastic supporting my husband during his illness and as the transplant viability tests were being carried out, they could not have been more supportive and helpful. We had a couple of minor set backs, but the transplant went ahead and was successful. The nursing team and Dr's were all amazing and we could not have wanted for more.
Post-transplant, the support and care continued until we moved from the area. I have nothing but praise for the Renal nursing team, consultants and transplant coordinators.
If anyone is unlucky enough to need their care, at least you know you will be in great hands.
