"Prostate operation"

My husband first saw the urology consultant (won't name names) in September 2012 and was placed on the list for a prostate operation. He even had the pre-op assessment on the 10th of October. He had a catheter put in in September and since then has had several bladder infections. He has phoned regularly every week to see when the operation was going to happen and still the department is unable to give him an idea of when this operation might take place. He is nearly 82 could this this be the reason for the ongoing delay?
