Anything else?
I was admitted to the QMC Ward 25 to have an infected abscess drained. This developed complications which took 6 days to solve. The standard of care was unparalleled. The nurses at all levels were thoughtful, diligent and caring, despite being heavily over worked, and the staff nurses in particular demonstrated a huge level of expertise. The surgeons and doctors explained everything to me clearly and demonstrated a huge amount of commitment and skill and attended me regularly. The ward was kept scrupulously clean and the food served was excellent (I might have been biased by the fact that I had not eaten much in the preceding weeks). Their approach to the illness was cautious and thoughtful and it was clear that, when things started to get complicated medically, the staff made every effort to communicate with others in the hospital and beyond to ensure a speedy recovery. I cannot thank them all enough for looking after me so well. The same is true of the after care at the Maxillofacial clinic in the same hospital. Here again the level of professionalism and care that I received was second to none.
