About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

Anything else?

My 3yr old grand daughter was taken to ED by her parents late one evening with pyrexia, rigors and hallucinations. The paediatric staff on the department were excellent, the care she and her parents received was professional, competent, compassionate and informative

She was admitted to F64. unfortunately my daughter experienced some indifference and condescension from certain staff and was made to feel like an hysterical mother. As she has had 2 children who were born with congenital heart defects, she is well used to caring for very sick children.

Thank you for your comments on our Paediatric service. We are pleased that you had a positive experience in our Paediatric Emergency Department and we will reflect on your comments about ward F64 with our staff in order to avoid this happening again.
