Anything else?

My 73 yr old Mother was due to start her treatment of Vinorelbine today, to which never happened. Staff on Ward C10, were informed that we had arrived to discuss my Mothers treatment and to collect her medication to treat her Lung Cancer, after waiting an hour we were still waiting, no staff member had come over to talk to my mother or offer her a cup of tea or water, a further 1/2 hour past and I felt it only right to ask if someone would be seeing to my mothers needs soon, yes as soon as the doctor is free was the reply. I understand things get busy. Another 3/4 went by and still no patient care was offered and no sign of anyone coming to talk to my mother regarding her treatment. Eventually a nurse came, only to tell us that my mothers medication was not ready and that the Consultant who wrote the perscription out had in fact, wrote it out wrong a week prior to us coming, he was told by staff to put it right, yet when we arrived on the ward, the staff knew that my mothers medication was still not ready. Why was we not told when we arrived on the ward that there was a hold up ? Why let us sit there for 2 1/4 hours without any patient care given ?

We now have to go back tomorrow to `hopefully` collect her medication.
