"My 3 year old sons eye operation"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

Anything else?

My son has had a watery/sticky eye from birth and after not being listened to by my GP on numerous occasions I managed to get an appointment to the eye hospital via my Health Visitor.

This is the best thing that I could have done, we were seen very quickly and our options explained to us very clearly by the surgeon.

My son had a blocked tear duct and although the thought filed me with dread we opted for surgery. The procedure was explained fully to us.

On the actual day my son was treated like a prince, he was fussed on by the Nursery Nurse and made to feel very special, although I was a nervous wreck at the thought of him having a general anesthetic the team were fantastic and explained everything to me.

He was out of the operation in no time and back on the ward eating toast.

His follow up appointment was routine and his eye has been perfect ever since!

The ward was spotless and all the staff were amazing and I can't praise them enough.

Any parent is likely to worry about their child having treatment and our staff understand this. So it is good to know that both you and your son had the support you needed and that the outcome was so good. Thank you for taking the time to let us know -- we'll make sure the staff are told of your comments.
