"Oral surgery out patients"

About: The Great Western Hospital

Anything else?

Our daughter was born with a cleft lip and palate. We have travelled between Swindon, Oxford and Salisbury through the course of 19 years of treatment involving surgery , speech therapy and orthodontic care.

Without a doubt, one department stands out which is the oral surgery department at Great Western Hospital. Our daughter's consultant has recently retired after looking after her for all of her life. He has consistently been supportive, informative, flexible with emmergency appointments and humerous. The nursing staff have also been great and the team work shows.

Only negative point is sometimes lack of communication when appointment times delayed over an hour. To be kept up to date is helpful and reduces time wasted.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We are pleased to hear that your experience of our oral and maxillofacial team at GWH has been so positive over the 19 years your daughter has been receiving treatment and care. The team will be delighted to hear that they have been such a strong support to you and you daughter all of her life.

Thanks also for your comments about communication over appointment delays. Appointments can be delayed for a number of reasons and we do our best to keep patients and visitors informed of changes to appointment times wherever possible. However, improvements can always be made and we will be looking at ways in which we can do this.
