"Ridiculous system for appointments"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

Anything else?

As my complaint does not fit the above criteria, but more with the administration I will forgo the above and get to the point here.

I thought the idea behind an appointment amendment system was to make the experience as pain free as possible, However my recent experience has convinced me that a more ridiculous and useless system could not have been invented even by a five year old. After following the instructions on the letter recently sent to me, I spent in total best part of the morning trying to change my appointment and the end result was I am still where I started.

I don't mind so much the pass the parcel game as long as I see a result at the end. However due to a breakdown in the computer system at my doctor's who could not give me a password. I spent an entire morning talking to a number of departments and services who all seemed to think it was not their job, who incidentally are all named appointments...why if they are unable to do a simple task of changing an appointment.

I am not accustomed to making complaints as life does have its highs and lows, but when it concerns health issues, and I am being warned that if I do not do so and so I will be penalised, then I think that it is only fair that you make a system which actually works!

After trying my best to follow all the steps and advice to amend my appointment, I find I am no better of than I started. I still have appointment I need to have adjusted and still can't talk to a sane person who can simply carry out this task.

I think its time someone at the NHS started concentrating less on wasting money on useless systems and invested that money into responsive, flexible and client centred systems.

We would be pleased to look into this issue if the patient would like to contact the PALS team. The email address is pals@midyorks.nhs.uk
