"Weekend working and care of disabled patients"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital

Anything else?

My husband required a RIG replacement as his had blocked. His is nil by mouth so the RIG had to be replaced the same day or he would require hydration via other means. This was the weekend and the consultant radiologist was not available. My husband has therefore taken up a hospital bed for 5 days instead of the 30 minutes it would have taken in the interventional suite on a weekday Not enough care is accorded to disabled patients and requests from family carers including being trasferred to a wheelchair for feeding, to reduce the possibility of aspiration pneumonia, are disregarded until complaints are made.
