Anything else?
I was left feeling very upset following my whole experience at MDGH. I was admitted as a day patient following a missed miscarriage, I was given no information prior to going into hospital as to what to expect, I was not told not to eat or drink and had to check with family and friends for advice beforehand, as I was going for an general anesthetic and was not told to remove nail polish etc. I was given no information about my procedure. When I arrived I was moved from one ward to another as they had no space to keep me on the first ward. I waited for 5 hours before I was actually sent down for my operation and was made to feel very lonely and upset as my partner was sent away home and at such a difficult and upsetting time I felt this was highly unacceptable, even though I was in floods of tears and complained to the ward manager, I was told it was policy! Once I came round I was told I had to eat and drink something before I could go home, I asked several times if I could have something so I could just get home, yet I was not given anything as I was told they didnt think they had anything, so bearing in mind I had not eaten since midnight the night before I was not very happy! After 5 more hours and not being given anything to eat or drink i walked out discharging myself as I could not take anymore. Some of the staff were nice enough, although I didnt see much of them as they were presumably totally over worked, who knows, I didnt get an explanation, I just asked them to remove my canular and left. I received no follow up treatment and am still trying to get answers now.
"Very upsetting experience"
