"Skilled and cheerful care following stroke"

About: Berwick Infirmary / General medicine Borders General Hospital

(as the patient),

I suffered a stroke during the night.

The Northumbria ambulance crew wasted no time and took me straight up to the Borders General Hospital at Melrose where I was treated by the stroke team including the consultant immediately upon admission.

I subsequently spent a month on the stroke rehabiltation ward where I received highly skilled professional treatment from doctors, nurses and physiotherapists and all the remedial staff. Without their expertise and cheerful optimism I would certainly have been severely disabled or indeed may have died.

Dear Geordie Lad

Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust manages Berwick Infirmary and although it isn't clear if this is where you underwent your rehabilitation or stayed in Borders General Hospital, we are very pleased that you received such good care and that you have made such a good recovery.

Kind regards
