In the middle of last year I had a stent inserted into the tube from my right kidney into my bladder, my problems begin thereafter.
On discharge I was told I would be seen at clinic in 6 weeks time, this did not happen, after much phoning and convincing anyone I had a stent, I was given an appointment for 5 months later.
My appointment was for 9am and I had to travel for about half an hour, the clinic eventually got started at 11. 30 am we were constantly told there was a doctor on route to take the clinic.
This doctor knew nothing about me, I had never seen him before, we discussed the fact that the stent had to be changed every 6 months to ensure that my right kidney kept working, agreed that this would be done at the end of the year as an inpatient. This never happened.
We also discussed my bladder problems and it was agreed that a test would be carried out on my bladder with a camera in two to three weeks time this never happened.
After more phoning on my part I was told I would have both done last month. I am still waiting for that appointment to come through. This was all handled by the urology department at the southern general hospital in Glasgow.
It has put my already badly damaged right kidney in potential danger and caused me a great deal of pain and some bleeding due to my bladder problems.
I believe quite frankly that this department is a joke and that has no duty of care towards patients.
Would be interesting to see if they respond in any way.....
