"Avoidable anxiety prior to breast operation at New Victoria Hospital"

I went for a mastectomy at New Victoria Hospital in November and the ward staff were all very nice and was treated with care and respect. Had to wait 9 weeks for admission which was psychologically traumatic. On admission day had to have wire inserted into one breast and injections into breasts. From here I sat for an hour outside ward for admission. I was obviously very uptight. I told nurse in ward I had expected pre-medication, but when anaesthetist arrived she said there wouldn't be time for it. I was given tamazepam but was on a trolley for theatre within 20 mins. I told anaesthetist my heart was bumping even before operation. I suffered because of that and would not like anyone else to. My point is that I should have been sedated rather than sitting for an hour outside the ward and in a state of anxiety.
