"Diagnosis of Aspergers for my 7 year old son"

After 18 months of being referred to one professional after another we were referred to Midlands Psychology and offered an appointment with a lead Clinical Psychologist Ivan Burchess within 6 weeks of referral.

At last we had found someone who understood my son's differences with social interaction and interacting with the world around him. Ivan immediately recognised that my son's differences fitted on the Autistic Spectrum.

Since diagnosis we have been offered support for us as parents, for our family through courses and one-to-one appointments to help us understand ASD. My son has already attended a workshop designed to help him understand Aspergers and will be offered further help through groups and on-to-one help.

We can contact MPS when we need to to help us through any situation. MPS has also been into my son's school to help his teachers and other staff to understand the condition and how to best support my son. The school, and us as parents are now able to make a positive difference to helping my son achieve the basic social skills he will need for life eliminating the possibility of him being labelled the "naughty kid" and ending up underachieving.

Without a doubt this service has been the best we have encountered and will lead to a positive outcome for my son. I cannot praise it highly enough. Long may it continue.
