"Concerned about basic care"

About: Broomfield Hospital

(as a relative),

My uncle was very weak. On several occasions when visiting I found him without fluids, sometimes the bottle was half empty with a straw that was too short to reach the drink. On many other occasions the drinks were out of reach and he was extremely thirsty.

I complained and was told that he needed help to drink. This was simply untrue as I had just seen him drink unaided from two bottles. On other occasions I found unused pillows dumped on his legs and his bed hadn't been extended so he was very uncomfortable, I had to ask several times.

It may have just been coincidence that these things happened on my visits but I am writing so that other families can look out for it.

Dear GiovanniS

I am taking the comments you have raised about the care your uncle received whilst with us extremely seriously. Can you please take the time to contact me at 01245 514577 or jonathan.wright@meht.nhs so I can look into these matters further.

Regards
