What I liked
Some of the staff nurses and HCA's were good at their jobs, one Staff Nurse particular is a credit to the nursing profession...................others needed to be re trained.
Nurse Pactioners who are highly gualified in their particular field turned out to be far better than most of the doctors.
What could be improved
Eliminate banging crashing and shouting noise at night. Introduce a quiet time between the hours of 10pm-6am Sleep is part of the recovery process for the patients
Night agency nurses were a disgrace and oblivious to the care and comfort of the patients. They should remember they are there for the patients and not the other way round! Employ more trained permanent staff.
Give patient survey forms out upon discharge not when patient has spent a short time on the ward.........results may be a little different
Anything else?
On the whole a well run ward with the 'team' policy of looking after patients a good idea.Ward sister should do a round each day and speak to every patient.
Locum doctor was allowed to over- ride a decision by an anaesthetist, which left patient in pain for over eight hours at night. Should not have happened and was disgraceful especially as this happened only 6 hours post op.
"Generally good but a lot of room for improvement."
