"great a and e . some staff attitudes need to..."

About: King's Mill Hospital

What I liked

i attended a+e during the night with an allergic reaction with unknown cause. i am a qualified nurse with 25 years experience. although not life threatening i am aware that symptoms i was displaying could have lead onto restricted breathing, and needed immediate medical attention as i also have a long term condition.

the a and e staff were great, professional and efficient. i was then taken to the gp unit? (- not sure what its called).

the senior nurse on duty was very dismissive of me when i was called through, saying i shouldn't have gone to a and e and that i was a non emergency- i felt they were rude, dismissive and not in full receipt of all the facts to judge my attendance. as a senior nurse myself it saddens me that this is the image as nurses we are displaying to the general public

What could be improved

signage- would have gone to gp unit if i knew it was there!!

Anything else?

a and e excellent. gp i saw excellent treatment efficient and didnt take too long

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments.

The GP unit comes under the remit of the local primary care trust and we will ensure your comments about their service are fed back to them for onward distribution.

We will also ensure that your comments about our A& E team and the signage issue are fed back to our relevant teams at King's Mill Hospital.
