"traumatised! never thought British hospitals could..."

About: Croydon University Hospital

What I liked

Nurse and reception staff friendly

What could be improved

The cleanliness, the place was very dirty. A man had passed out and urinated on himself. He was left in a puddle of urine for the entire night. People had to wait in the waiting room with the stench of urine and some were walking through the puddle.

Very sick patients were dumped in the waiting room and left. Many walked out after waiting many hours to be seen by a nurse or doctor.

Anything else?

More empathy is needed, one patient was crying and hitting a chair with pain and he was told off and warned that if he continued, then he would be chucked out. The man was obviously in a lot of pain and the only method of overcoming this was by hitting against the chair. He wasn't seen for many hours and he stumbled out of his chair and into the street. No one tried to stop him and he didn't get the treatment he was brought in for. Two other old men also decided not to stay any longer because the process at the hospital was so long, lots of shuffling of paper and people around until they were fed up and left. This hospital is not a place to be treated. for the very sick.
