"My worried and anxious feelings were calmed by..."

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

What I liked

I spent 3 days in the Gynaecology Ward. I was impressed by the hard working nurses. They were caring, friendly and cheerful and went out of their way to make sure that we patients understood our treatment. The level of hygiene in the ward was excellent and, although their time was so very pressured, they always put the patients first making sure we were comfortable and at ease. They all deserve commendation. I felt well treated and happy during my stay in this ward.

I believe that, as with teaching, the increased administrative work takes valuable nursing and caring time and so puts much pressure on nurses.

Anything else?

I would also like to make a comment upon the Pre-operative care in Gynaecology Services.

Much time was taken during my appointment to help me understand exactly what would be happening to me in hospital and my care, condition and feelings after my operation both in hospital and at home. I felt relaxed, comfortable and well - informed.
