"Excellent service"

About: Alder Hey Hospital

What I liked

The nursing staff and the consultant were excellent. My son's problems are neurological rather than ENT but the Consultant was friendly as well as knowledgeable and understood and acknowledged our concerns as parents. He treated my son with amazing dignity and respect taking care not to talk about him to us in his presence.

We received a copy of the referral letter which was well written in plain English so that we could all understand.

This was the second time we have had to visit ENT (the first was with my daughter) On that occasion the Consultant we were supposed to see was called away on an emergency case on a baby.. I was impressed that the staff informed us about this and didn't just leave us waiting without an explanation. The staff gave us the option to wait or to make another appointment. Obviously in the circumstances we were happy to do either but the friendly nurse in the meantime "blackmailed" another doctor to come and do the surgery and we were seen. Amazing service and in what often must be distressing circumstances.

Very much appreciated the service we have received. The NHS would do well to replicate the levels of service and care here, in other trusts and hospitals.

What could be improved

Nothing!
