"Caring, compassionate staff in smart new unit"

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

Anything else?

There has been some media coverage over the past few days of lack of compassion in the NHS. This is certainly not my experience having spent a day in the smart new Day Surgery Unit on Saturday. You could have fooled me that I wasn't being treated privately in a spacious, comfortable, virtually sound-proof cubicle!

Very cosmopolitan staff - Greek surgeon, Antipodean anaethetist and Phillipino nurses - and they were all brilliant - caring, compassionate and they helped to make me feel as relaxed as possible in those circumstances. Special thanks to the staff member who looked after me before and after the operation and the delightful, cheery theatre nurse who managed to make me laugh as he wheeled me through the corridors to the theatre.

4 days later I am as good as pain free - have hardly taken any of the painkillers I was given - and having difficulty adhering to the post op patient advice!

Thank you to my surgeon and all the staff at Frimley Park Hospital.
