What I liked

I was treated at Lymington a number of times over the past 18 months and have been treated with the utmost respect and taken care of very well by all the medical staff who have a hard job at the best of times. However on my last stay in mid November for 5 days I can only say what has happened? the food service was awful with cold Tea and Toast along with crumpy people serving it. This did not improve through the day with the next meal time either. The cleanliness in the ward was appalling and the cleaning staff seem to ignore anything that needed an effort to clean and opted for the easy option of just emptying the bins. This was not what I had experienced on my previous stays on Longbeech even my partner commented on how things had changed and the level of cleanliness. My medical treatment I will say was excellent and after care from the nurses was more than one could ask for.

What could be improved

Ward cleanliness and food service preferably by staff that actually care about what they are doing.

Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding the time you have spent at Lymington New Forest Hospital. I am sorry that your latest experience was not in keeping with your previous visits to the hospital.

I would like to reassure you that as an organisation we take the cleanliness of all our facilities as a priority. In relation to Longbeech ward at Lymington New Forest Hospital, we do agree that we had one incident where the standards of cleaning were lower than we would expect. However, in order to address this there are weekly hospital audits carried out by both Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and OCS, the company that are contracted to clean the wards (this includes regular unscheduled spot checks as well), and I am pleased to inform you that cleanliness is back to the high standard we have always previously achieved. The cleaning and housekeeping staff within the hospital have undertaken refresher training to ensure that they are reminded of the standards that are expected when cleaning all of our wards and departments and providing meal service.

In relation to your food/beverage being cold, I would like to apologise for this, clearly it is intended for all patients to received food and drinks at the right temperature. However I do appreciate that on occasion this may not happen and would advise that anyone who finds themselves in this position to report this to the staff immediately who will rectify the problem.
