About: Hillingdon Hospital

What I liked

My mother was admitted for what was thought to be a ‘routine’ infection. Within hours she had a cardiac arrest which no one could have predicted and was resuscitated by the quick acting crash team, mostly from the hospital’s ITU. (Intensive Care)

We wish to put on the record that despite my mother’s death last week, 3 weeks after admittance, the Hillingdon ITU department’s dedicated team of approximately 40 amazing doctors and nurses did everything possible to care for and help my mother in the most professional and caring way possible whilst she was on their ward for 21 days. Moreover, they did so taking into account her family’s emotional wellbeing and medical treatment wishes.

We are all truly fortunate to have such assets within the UK NHS system and respectfully suggest the Hillingdon Trust’s budget be generously increased, especially as due to its proximity to Heathrow airport, we personally witnessed that it receives a high number of emergency cases from outside the UK.

In our opinion, Hillingdon Hospital’s ITU department should be a model other hospitals in the UK aspire to. Furthermore, the Trust’s leadership team should also be commended for managing such a wonderful hospital.
