"long wait to see consultant, but care received was excellent"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS) The Princess Royal Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

Saturday morning clinic. Appointment arranged 3 days before at PRH. Extremely long wait (nearly 2 hours) to see consultant. However care received was excellent, and nursing staff were apologetic about delay.

I thought the original appointment system was appalling. No choice offered. Referred by Optician, no G. P. No explanation of referral process given.

TRAQS is a new service which has only been in operation for 6 months and we are really pleased that you had a positive experience using TRAQS, when you were seen by the consultant and that you were able to exercise Choice which is what TRAQS aims to provide.

We value all feedback from patients as it helps us to develop the service further for patients within the Telford and Wrekin practice areas.

I am very sorry to hear that you were disappointed in the referral process and we will contact the organisation responsible for this to let them know. I am glad that the care you received at PRH was good and that the nurses apologised for the delay - although clearly it would be better if the delay did not happen in the first place.
