"My Step-Dad's High Dependancy Care"

About: University Hospital (Coventry) / General surgery

(as a relative),

Unfortunately my step-father was kicked by one of his many dairy cattle early last week, which subsequently caused a small tear to occur in his bowel. He was rushed to Coventry University Hospital (having been transfered from Northampton General due to lack of High Dep beds) for emergency surgery, where the fantastic surgeons were able to repair his bowel successfully.

However, unfortunately my step-father contracted Peritonitis, and has been on 24 hour care in the Critcal Care Unit at Coventry University Hospital for the past 5 days. He is showing small signs of improvement, and fingers crossed he is heading in a positive direction.

I just wanted to thank the fantastic surgeons and nurses working on the critical care unit in this hospital; they have been absolutely fantastic in both my step-father's care and their continued support of my family.

I would especially like to thank the nurse (Holly) who has been looking after my step-father for the majority of his admission there; she was so supportive of my mum and I, explaining everything to do with his treatment and what to expect over the coming days.

If it wasn't for the amazing and dedicated care of this wonderful team, I feel sure that my step-father wouldn't have made it this far.
