My partner had a mental health crisis seven weeks ago regarding anxiety and the contemplation of suicide. they spoke with the GP and agreed to spending time in 'The Haven' adult rescue home. This was a very positive move for their mental health - and initially we received daily visit from a member of the Crisis Team until they removed personal contact visits following two weeks of being out of the home but still offered phone support should it be required.
However my partner procrastinates in contacting them over the phone as their response to an anxiety attack has previously been to 'sit down and have a cup of tea and call back in an hour if needed'.
We have yet to see the Archway Centre; both my partners GP and the Crisis Team have forwarded us onto them, with the GP referring to the Crisis Team, who in turn referred back to the GP - we have heard nothing from the Access Centre for seven weeks...
...until today, we received a scheduled phonecall believing it would be a telephone assessment. Finally some professional assistance that every other professional body keeps forwarding us onto or reassuring us they will be able to offer assistance.
We've been told my partner is previously on their systems and a priority on the waiting list with estimated four weeks wait.
Thus far in my view we've received no positive mental health care, no coping mechanisms or strategies and feel exceptionally let down as does my partner. We've been hoping this moment would be a positive step forward but as my partner said when they came off the phone, we can understand how people could deteriorate when this is the level of support they receive.
"On the waiting list but feeling let down"
