What I liked
I arrived after a long journey and was greeted by an extremely friendly and helpful volunteer who made me a cup of tea and calmed my nerves while I waited for my appointment. That said, the waiting time was minimal.
Both the nurse and the consultant were friendly and put me at ease, discussing my family history and making suggestions for long term care. The whole experience was made much more bearable by the caring attitudes of all the staff I encountered, even the lady in the shop had a smile and friendly word.
This was the first time I have been to the breast clinic at Grantham but it exceeded all my expectations and put the other LIncolnshire hospitals to shame.
I look forward to seeing the unit again when the renovations have been completed.
What could be improved
We did get lost a few times trying to find the unit and moving to and from the xray department as some of the signs were not as clear as they could have been but all the staff in the corridors were friendly and asssited us in finding our way.
Anything else?
I found it comforting to have a nurse who had a personal experience of breast cancer, who was able to speak honestly and from the heart. So often you get the feeling that the medical staff are just paying lip service but really have no idea how you are feeling but I was reassured from the outset. Thank you.
