"Amateurish and very worrying"

What could be improved

My doctor sent me for a precautionary chest x ray. In the event I was given 3 x rays, 2 from the front and 1 from the side. Afterwards my chest was buzzing and I had aches and pains in my chest and back for 2 months. These have now subsided and I just get aches in my chest. Health and safety was never explained. I was never asked if I minded having more x rays than my doctor prescribed. I suspect that the second x ray should have been from the side and the operator did not understand what she should have been doing. A different operator took the third x ray. Whilst it is too late for me, something should be put in place to save others. I suggest:

Better training/qualifications

Improved dialogue with patient

Operators not allowed to interpret medical notes - only doctors

If more than 1 x ray deemed necessary, doctor should approve with consent of patient

X ray machine should be checked to make sure it does not overdose patients with deadly x rays
