What I liked
The nursing was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were pleasant and kind.
What could be improved
I had an SAH late Monday night, was admitted to A&E ward at 4am but had still not seen consultant or had scans by 2pm. My daughter arrived at 2.30, found out that I had fallen between two teams, each thinking the other was caring for me. Within half an hour she had made sure I had a scan and the consultant arrived. If this had been a worse SAH I would have been severely impaired, as treatment needs to start immediately. And how long would i have been left if I had not had a competent and confident daughter?
It would have been helpful if I had been warned of the possibility of hyponatraemia, as I returned to A&E 9 days later in a bad state which has left me with some minor deficits.
"Shoddy liaison among senior staff could have cost..."
