What I liked
I came to Hull a&e on Wednesday 7th nov 2012 at 9am as I was losing blood at 7weeks pregnant . I was quickly seen in a&e and referred that afternoon to early pregnancy unit -315 for a scan . All was ok at that point with baby. Everyone in both departments were highly professional and treated me with dignity , respect and care. I returned thurs 8th @ 8pm (a&e) As was in excruciating pain and unfortunately was miscarrying . A & E nursing staff (plus the female doctor who prescribed me extra pain relief) were amazing and compassionate. I was sent home to return to early pregnancy unit at 215 the next day (fri 9th nov). The sonographers on both occasions were amazing, particularly the one who delivered the bad news. The nurse was superb - . Remembered me from my first visit and treated me and my partner with such compassion, we came out of the hospital feeling at peace with the devastating events . Thank you Hull Royal!
What could be improved
A & e receptionists on both occasions weren't particularly friendly . Judging by the clientele they are dealing with on a daily/hourly basis, I can understand why, however, not all Hull residents are using their service flippantly and perhaps could be treated more respectfully.
Anything else?
Building works mean a &e relocated . Telling reception the nature of the issue (delicate) was awkward due to the lack of space and people being very close and potentially listening in.
"A very sad time dealt with promptly and with..."
