What I liked
I should be grateful if the following comments are fed back to the manager of the Endoscopy Suite.
I was an outpatient of this unit on Tuesday 30 October. My appointment was scheduled for 2:00 pm for a flexible sigmoidoscopy procedure.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to the following staff:
- the initial Staff Nurse who greeted me and discussed what the procedure entailed
- the medical team who carried out the procedure
- the nurse who fed back how my procedure went
- the lady who made me a cup of tea before I came home
The professionalism, support, and kindness shown by all of these staff was extremely reassuring. I was very anxious about the procedure but the staff made time to speak with me and explain things. They listened to my concerns and questions. They were extremely sensitive and caring. With the time pressures you are all operating under, it is extremely reassuring to know that the 'caring' profession is still able to be exactly that!
I was enormously grateful to have a female team treating me - there was no embarrassment, and they enabled me to relax (as much as is possible in the circumstances!)
Please pass on my grateful thanks to those staff involved. The department is extremely fortunate to have such highly trained, caring, dedicated professionals.
What could be improved
Prior to my appointment it would have been good to have been told that the entire medical team dealing with this procedure were female. Being a female and extremely anxious about the procedure, it made such a considerable difference to my dealing with the situation with a minimum of embarrassment.
Anything else?
Thank you for delivering a professional, effective and caring service.
