What I liked

On Monday 5th November my 5 year old daughter needed to attend Ward 4 (Paediatric Unit) for a blood test. When the appointment was made by telephoning the unit 2 weeks ago, the staff member was very helpful in advising about the amount of anaesthetic cream needed (I needed to request more from my GP as a result), how and when to apply it, and how to ensure it worked so that my daughter would be in the least discomfort. Upon arriving at the Unit yesterday morning, I was directed to the Ward Sister who immediately put both my daughter and I at our ease. When it came to carrying out the blood test, Sister was calm, professional and super efficient. Her technique was amazing, so much so that my daughter didn't even cry when she took the bloods. Furthermore, when I removed the plaster some hours later, there was not even a speck of blood on it! I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate the manner in which this appointment was carried out - it could have been very stressful for for my daughter and I, so I was enormously relieved that it didn't turn out to be horrifically painful and traumatic for my daughter.
