"Respectful and helpful staff, good communication..."

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary

What I liked

I attended A&E with a recurring problem which, if not treated, results in septicaemia.

The care I received was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful.

I had driven to the hospital in my company vehicle and parked on the car park where I paid the fee upto midnight, I didn't expect to be admitted I was expecting to be given oral antibiotics and sent home.

However, my problem was more serious than anticipated and I was admitted for intravenous antibiotics.

The staff took details of my vehicle and liaised with the security staff to allow my vehicle to remain there without any penalty.

I was worried that there would be a costly penalty to pay but the staff had prevented that happening and I was very grateful for their help.

I would like to thank the staff for all the help and the excellent care I received and for sorting out the car parking issue.

What could be improved

Perhaps there could be a system whereby the security staff are given details of anyone that arrives in a car (by the driver or passengers) then if that person is unexpectedly admitted, security can enquire and be informed of the situation.

It would remove the stress and worry of getting a large fine when it is a stressful time anyway for people who attend A&E.
