What I liked
I was admitted for surgery - a hysteroscopy, polypectomy and biopsy (uterine) and could not fault my care. these procedures are often carried out as "day surgery" but i was reassured that in my case this was not the case, as the hysteroscopy revealed multiple polyps which were removed under general anaesthetic. i did not feel rushed and staff would have been happy to keep me in overnight, tho i chose to go home in the evening of the day of surgery.
What could be improved
One is aware of the pressures and lack of resources faced by the NHS and the only slight concern was that i was admitted at 7 am and had to wait for surgery till 1130/midday, somewhat in the dark about when i would be taken down to theatre. when one's very nervous, the waiting is difficult ...
Anything else?
i was really happy with the ward 11A and even had a beautiful view of rolling countryside as my bed was by the window. i also loved my hospital bed which was really comfortable, fully adjustable, and had lovely clean crisp white bedding. the cleanliness couldnt be faulted, neither could all the staff involved, for their caring manner and helpfulness.
"NHS at its best!"
