"Good care in A&E, but forgotten about repeatedly on the ward"

About: Whiston Hospital / Accident and emergency Whiston Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I woke up at 5am with some discomfort in my stomach.

Within an hour the pain was unbareable and my wife phoned NHS direct who told her to get me straight to hospital.

Upon arrival at Whiston I was taken straight to A&E where I was seen to immediately and given pain killers and morphine to stop the pain, all was great until I was moved up to the ward where I had to wait over an hour for painkillers and over 8hrs before a doctor came to see me. I was due for a CT Scan that day but had to wait until the next day, then when the time came they took me down, got me to drink 3 cups of water then seemingly forgot about me - it was only after I was doubled over in pain that they returned to me.

After the scan I was taken out to wait to be taken back to the ward and as far as I could tell they forgot about me again and it was the porter who had to intervene and get me back.

Getting back to the ward, and the so-called nurse seemed more concerned that I wasn't wearing DVT stockings rather than my meds.

It has now been 7 hrs since my scan, I've been discharged but got too wait for an injection first which I have been waiting over 2hrs for.

I feel this is an absolute disgrace.
