"Physiotherapy has helped my arthritis"

About: Community Health Services / Community physiotherapy

(as the patient),

I went to the doctors with very bad leg pain and shooting pains in my legs. They sent me for a scan and found that I had narrowing of the spine. It was in the base of my back which was what caused the pain in my legs.

I'm already on medication for my arthritis because I'm in my 70's so I didn't think my situation would improve. The pain didn't stop so I was referred to physiotherapy.

When I first went, I could barely lift my leg but Tim got me doing exercises with him, and set me some exercises for home and gradually things improved. He also sometimes massaged my back and legs which gave me a lot of relief.

My walking is almost 100% now, I'm so pleased and in all honesty I was sceptical about what it would do for me at first. I have been quite surprised.

I've never felt embarrassed there, they always put a curtain around the bed and make it very private.

What a good experience - I feel very lucky!
