"The staff were professional and caring in..."

About: Leighton Hospital

What I liked

My elderly Father was treated in Ward 2 for a respiratory condition on several occasions during the early part of this year, unfortunately his condition was found to be terminal and he later passed away peacefully at St Luke's hospice. At all times when he was admitted to the Ward, even when the staff were hard pushed due to infection in the bays etc. he never felt neglected, and always praised them for their hard work and care. He did not worry about being in the hospital or about the treatment he received.

I live about 2 hours drive from the hospital and had to be kept informed over the phone some of the time, but again the staff were helpful, courteous and understanding in their communications with myself and my family. It was difficult to receive the news that Dads condition was terminal but the doctor was considerate and spent time explaining his condition to us, The situation was very sad but the staff helped us as much as they could; so, we were, and still remain grateful to them.

Thank you for your very kind comments regarding your late father's care on ward 2 and your own experiences. I know the staff will appreciate your kind words and will be especially pleased that your experience was positive despite what was obviously a very difficult time for you and your family. I will also ensure that your feedback is provided to the clinical staff. Thank you. John David, Lead Nurse.
