"The NHS did work for me."

About: Basildon University Hospital

What I liked

From the moment I entered the Elective Admissions Lounge to the minute I left the Katherine Monk word the following day after surgery, the nurses, doctors and staff were friendly and as accommodating as they could be, knowing how stretched they all are.

Thank you to each and every one of them.

What could be improved

The Elective Admissions Lounge has a male and a female section. The issue here is that if patients arrive with partners or parents, these lounges are single sex only, which makes the job of the nurses on the desk very difficult trying to keep families together. An additional room for mixed sex may be better for those that choose to use it.

We have noticed that a number of comments posted on the NHS Choices some time ago did not receive a posted response from the Trust, for which we offer our sincere apologies.

We would like to assure you that at the time your comments were posted they were shared with the relevant departments.

Feedback from patients and/or their relatives/carers is always welcomed (negative or positive) whether it is showing appreciation for the care and treatment received or expressing concerns or offering suggestions to improve practices at the hospital.
